In a clear sign that relations with Nepal hold importance for India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the neighboring country for the third time in four years. It is the first high-level visit from India since the formation of a new government in Nepal this year. The visit is being seen as an attempt by both countries to bring back normalcy in ties after a spell of uneasiness and is particularly important in the backdrop of Beijing strengthening its political and economic ties with the Himalayan nation.
Here, Modi will go to Janakpur, Kathmandu, and Mukitdham to all three places. The tour will be from Jankarpur where he is worshiped in Janki temple. After this, Nepal's Prime Minister K.P. Sharma will start bus service from Janakpur to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Sita with Oli. During this time Ramayana Circuit scheme can also be negotiated.
What is Ramayana Circuit Plan?
Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the tourism ministry is constructing Ramayana Circuit, Krishna Circuit and Buddha Circuit in the country. For the Ramayana Circuit, those 15 places associated with Lord Rama have been identified from where they went to Lanka. The Central Government has passed a budget of Rs 223.94 crore for this.
- In November last year, an international conference was organized in Nepal's Janakpur about the Ramayana Circuit, in which the leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and cultural workers of Nepal were present.
